What to do in Kyiv this weekend: September 5-6

The first autumn weekend already has a ready-made route. You can start with Kyiv's history, find something special at a flea market, watch a film outdoors, and finish Sunday with a new play. Here are five events on September 5-6 that are worth leaving home for.
See Kyiv through Mykhailo Hrushevskyi's eyes
Saturday, September 5, 13:00 · Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Historical Memorial Museum
This guided tour, "Hrushevskyi lived right here!", is a reason to look more closely at a familiar city and learn what Kyiv looked like in the historian's everyday life. It is a good Saturday start for anyone interested not in lists of dates, but in living city stories.

Hunt for treasures at a charity flea market
Saturday, September 5, 14:00-20:00 · ArtFoodWine, 5-B Baseina Street · free entry
"Shuk-ovytsia x PosEATive" brings together a flea market, craft fair, food, and live music. Come without a shopping list: browse vintage finds, meet Ukrainian makers, and join a charity initiative.
Spend the evening with documentary cinema
Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6 · VDNH Meadow
"Weekend with OKO" means two days of ethnographic cinema, conversations about home, music, and Bessarabian culture. The programme includes screenings, meetings, hospitality, and live conversation. Choose this event if you want not only to watch a film, but to keep discussing it long after the credits.

Sunday, September 6, 12:00 · Museum and Exhibition Centre of the Museum of the History of Kyiv
A curator-led tour of the exhibition "Famous / in the frame / at home" introduces Kyiv and Kyivites through photographs by Mykola Ozerov. It is a calm Sunday plan, after which you can keep walking through the centre and look for familiar places in the modern city.

End the weekend with a Molière comedy
Sunday, September 6, 18:00 · Molodyy Theatre, 17 Prorizna Street · 14+
"The Miser", directed by Christophe Galiot, is a new reading of the classic comedy about a man for whom money has become the only ideal. The performance lasts 1 hour 45 minutes, so there will still be time for an evening walk afterwards.
