À propos de l’événement
A 2.5-hour drop-in acting workshop in London. Work on scenes, receive live coaching and train without committing to a full course. Beginners welcome.
One class. No commitment. Just acting.
Want to try acting, return to training, or simply get into a room and work?
This 2.5-hour acting workshop in Hackney Wick gives you the opportunity to work practically on acting material with a professional coach and other actors in the room.
There is no audition, no previous experience required and no obligation to enrol on a course afterwards.
Classes run on Wednesday evenings from 6:00–8:30pm and cost £30 per session.
Book one class or come back and train as often as you like.
What happens in the workshop?
This is a practical acting session rather than a lecture.
Before the workshop, you will be sent a selection of scenes to work from. You can prepare your material in advance or use the session itself to explore and develop the scene.
During the class, you will:
- Work practically on scripted material
- Perform and workshop scenes with other actors
- Receive individual coaching and feedback
- Explore character, behaviour, emotional connection and relationship
- Develop greater responsiveness and freedom in performance
- Work in a way that can be applied to both stage and screen
The emphasis is on doing the work, rather than sitting and talking about acting.
This is not a drama-games class
Our drop-in workshop is designed for people who want to experience real actor training without immediately committing to a longer course.
The session is coached by Beck Academy of Dramatic Art’s professional teaching team and draws on principles from BEAT™ — Beck Emotional Access Technique® — and Meisner-based work.
You won't spend the evening playing generic drama games, and the class isn't designed as a sales presentation for another course.
You come to act.
Who is it for?
The workshop is open to a wide range of participants.
You might be:
- A complete beginner who has always wanted to try acting
- Considering actor training but not yet ready to commit to a course
- Returning to acting after time away
- An actor looking for somewhere to practise and keep working
- Curious about Beck Academy's approach to actor training
- Looking for a regular London acting class that you can attend on a flexible basis
No previous acting experience is required.
If you're new, we'll meet you where you are.
If you already have experience, the work can be approached at a more advanced level.
What is BEAT™?
BEAT™ — Beck Emotional Access Technique® — is the acting methodology developed by Beck Academy founder and director Fay Beck.
It is a practical approach to emotional access and character behaviour, designed to help actors move beyond simply representing emotion and towards genuinely engaging with the character's experience and perspective.
In the drop-in workshop, your coach may draw on BEAT™ principles while working on your performance.
The workshop is not formal training in the complete BEAT™ methodology. Full training in the technique takes place within Beck Academy's structured acting courses.
