    The Critical Care Speech and Language Therapy team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust are excited to be offering a one day course aimed at registered SLTs or students with an interest working in adult critical care. The day is aimed to be interactive with a variety of topics/speakers from various professions with a combination of workshop and direct learning. Places are limited and on a first come first serve basis.

    Course Aims

    By the end of the study day, participants will:

    • Be introduced to the intensive care environment and equipment.
    • Develop knowledge in assessing and managing swallow and communication impairments seen in critical care.
    • Explore evidence-based rehabilitation approaches to tracheostomy weaning in the critical care population.
    • Develop knowledge and skills at foundation level of the SLT pillar of the Intensive care society AHP Critical Care Capability Framework.
    • Engage in interactive case discussions to apply learning to real-world scenarios.
    • Reflect on the patient journey through a first-hand account, enhancing compassionate, patient-centred care.

    •Speech and Language therapists with an interest in or who are new to critical care.
